View Full Version : Lost my Crankbaits!

Wednesday morning, I left Milwaukee with boat in tow. Had a meeting in Appleton, and planned to fish Bago in the afternoon. I stopped in Fondy for breakfast, and then proceeded to Appleton. While waiting for my boss, I was just looking around the boat, and then I noticed it. My blue softside Plano bag wasn't there! Now this bag had 8 3700 series boxes in it, and they held all my walleye crankbaits.

Now this bag had to weigh, what, 20 lbs or more? I don't recall hitting any big bumps on the road. I just don't think the bag bounced, fell, or flew out of the boat. I've hauled that bag in my old boat for years, and it was smaller, and bounced much more than the new rig. Never had a problem. The new rig is bigger, and rides much smoother.

It makes me wonder if somebody lifted the bag when I was in the restaurant eating breakfast. It's only time it was really out of my sight. I'm just sick about this. Not just because of the money, but because a lot of those crankbaits were older, and I know can never be replaced now.

Anyway, if it did happen to fall, bounce, fly out of the boat on the way up 45/41, and anybody happens to find it's remains, I would greatly appreciate it if you could let me know. If it was stolen, I hope that person someday gets a conscience. Shame on you!

Hey Shep,

Try putting a post on Winnebago Walleyes:
http://walleye.outdoorsfirst.com/boards/default.asp?sessionID={C7B31245-BC6A-43BC-9DE6-BC1D312BFE6C} With the Fleet Farm tourney this weekend in Oshkosh, some extra eyes looking around couldn't hurt.

Just a thought. Best of luck.

Dave.

Oops. I see you already did. Too darn many boards to track!

Do I feel for you! I had one of my crank bags swiped out of my boat at a PWT event at Fond Du Lac in 99. Over 3 grand worth of baits, but it gets better - it was my 40th birthday and the day (second day of the event) before I blown up my 6 day old motor. Was that a long ride home!
Good luck, Rich

wondering about OMEGA'S BLOWN?

Sure no problem. This is the explanation I got. There was a temp sensor disconected on my 200 Opti and the default setting was for a 60 degree day. So the motor was mixing oil for a much colder day than it was (96). Not enough oil, too much heat and #2 went away. Of the dozen V-6 Mercs I've owned this was the first and only major problem I had. No one pointed fingers over the disconnected sensor and Merc replaced the entire block with a new one. I was told that as a result of this failure the default setting in a temp sensor failure was changed to over mix and protect the motor with extra oil.
