Well ill tell you what i lost 5 hot-n-tots fishing erie for small fish i just get the lips to come back for some reason they break off i wonder if anyone else might have this problem other than that they do well at catching fish.

That is why we are using the new Double Downer from (The Producers)lure company. It is a better design of the old style hot-n-tot and is catching both walleye and steelhead for us.
Good hooks, metal bill, and rattles all combine to make a better duplicate than the new hot-n-tot.

I was told by Keith Kavajecz that they run shallower than the original Tots. All lures need to be tuned and re-tuned as needed. They still have close to the same action as the originals. I don't know if they're as good as the real deal, I wouldn't own one. I have plenty of the goods ones.

I've tried them and in my opinion they're junk. I had one lip break and I had problems trying to get them tuned. I heard about one guy having the lips warp from being in his tackle box that was in the sun on a very hot day. Save your money on this one. Larry

I also had the same problem with the producers. They look alot alike, but the bill keeps breaking. What a shame, my favorite bait is now obsolete.

Used the new H&T side by side with the old on Sag Bay all last week. Never broke a bill and the fish catch rates were identical. I ran the same leads as with the old style baits. There is no way to say that they dove the same depth since I was fishing suspended fish, but they caught fish the same distance back as the old style.

I found that they baits didn't need tuned out of the box and they didn't need tuned after catching several fish. Two inherent problems of the old style H&T.

I beleive the new baits are every bit as good as the old. I will agree that I lost some of my favorite colors, but who knows what the future may hold for that.

i talked to mark romanack at precisionangling.com. he had just finished tank testing the new tot. he told me that it runs about a foot deeper than the old one using the same line and speed. also if you like the way the old tots tuned you can buy the links from jans and put them on. you can put them on the double down too.

They have probably 1000-1500 in the close out bin at Bass Pro shops for 2.99 each just bought 50 of them.
