View Full Version : fishfinder interferance help
I have two fishfinders mounted on the back of my boat. When I turn on the small hummingbird it seems to screw up my x85 which is mounted on the dash. Is there anything minor I can do to correct this problem, or will I only be able to use one at a time? Thanks in advance any help or comments would be appreciated. Kuip
It is most likely that the KHZ of each unit are to close to each other and because of this they are interfering with each other. Are both the transducers mounted on the transom? You need at least a 50 KHZ difference to minimize the risk of inteference. Even with this I have seen some units still interfere with each other. Depends on the sensitivity of the units and where the amount of space between the transducers.
May be only able to use one at a time.

The transducers may be too close is my first thought. The cables may be another thing, if you coiled the cable in a circular fashion it is more susceptible to interference. Extra cable should be stored in a figure "8" loose wrap. Shielding power and transducer cables may also help?
It may just be a bad cable on one of the units as well? The frequency thing is likely as well.
