Who sells the most outboard motors worldwide? Mercury, Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha, etc. How about in the US?

I believe Yamaha is the world's largest outboard manufacturer. I believe Honda is the world's largest engine manufacturer. In the US I would guess it's Merc overall, but I also suspect that Yamaha would dominate certain markets.

For what it's worth, I was recently down in Mexico and virtually every local fishing boat I saw was running a Yamaha 4 Stroke if they were outboard powered.

I looked thru the whole site you posted, and could find nothing answering the question as to how many outboards, Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki, Mercury, etc. sell. Who's the biggest seller? How about boats? Who sells the most fishing boats, Lund, Alumacraft, Ranger, etc.?

I found in one of the links on the page that brunswick held 70% through 2007 or 2008 in the U.S. Not sure that is true today though.

My guess is Yamaha hands down. I have a friend that goes down south religiously to fish for redfish. He told me Yamaha 4 strokes dominate down there and a majority of the boats have two or three motors hanging off the back. Don't underestimate their size. Yamaha is a global industrial giant, they just do a real good job of staying below the radar. Much like Honda for that matter or even Suzuki.

Tracker sells canoes, jon boats, pontoons, bass boats, fishing boats, aluminum, fiberglass, etc., and they're all counted together. Whereas someone like Lund sells just fishing boats. Have to compare apples to apples. Also, McDonalds sell the most hamburgers. Does that mean they sell the "best" hamburger?

I run a Yamaha myself. I fished a tournament 2 weeks ago and was surprised at how many Yamahas were out on the water. I have had a few Mercs, but I would say yamies!!

I had a boat dealer that sells Yamaha outboards & their G3 boats tell me Yamaha is the number one seller of outboards in the U.S. He also stated Suzuki is the number one sold globally.

How things have changed! Back in the 70's and 80's, both Johnson and Evinrude claimed to be #1. Evinrude was first in $ value with their market dominance along the coasts and the size of the engines, and Johnson was first in number of engines sold.
