On my crestliner some of the decking screws have backed out and when i tighten them in again they will not get tight. I imagine they work their way loose over time due to normal vibrations. What is the best approach to have these screws tighten up? Should i replace with slightly longer screws? Or is there a lock-tite product or something similar that you would recommend? My deck is vinyl not carpeted.
thanks

i'd go slightly bigger, but same length. a dab of lock-tite wouldn't hurt either.

I've had good luck with just the locktite alone although I don't know how loose yours are. I've always been slow to go bigger unless nothing else works so would try the locktite just to see.
Go with a slightly larger screw.
Mix up some epoxy glue and dip the screw into the epoxy before putting in the screw.
It works well.
But if necessary, you can still back the screw out.

Sure they aren't bolts? My CL had bolts that always came loose, not screws.
I had the same thing happen in my old Lund. Like everyone said, just a slightly larger screw than the last one...same length though. I didn't need the lock tight as everything cinched down real nice and is still secure to this day...my buddy still runs the boat. Not one screw has backed out...it was carpeted as well.

One size larger snug up nice. Buy a dozen and just keep them around, you'll eventually need more. My 2002 Canadian just started to loosen up 3 or 4. Don't forget to buy stainlless.
thanks for the replies you guys. I was going fishing today but the weather is too violent. So i will get some slightly larger screws and work on my decking in the garage.
