Anybody out there who knows how to do the Rain Dance please do one for Colorado. I have been sitting here in my office for two days watching one of the huge fires now blazing in our state. Its wierd, most of our resevoirs are full to the brim and took forever to warm up this spring, so we have plenty of water. But we haven't had hardly any moisture in the last three months. The whole state feels like it could burst into flames any second. I'll be fishing Chatfield tommorrow and watching the fire tear up the mountains just west of where we will be fishing.

Hey Neal,
Got a sollution for your woes..Go to the nearest Dodge dealership and rent/lease a 1 ton dually with the Cummins Turbo deisel..Now hook onto something firm on the eastern border of Colorado, and floor that sucker till you get to Southeast Iowa..We've got WAY TOO MUCH rain and I guarantee it will put out all your fires..Just kidding of course, but I do empathize with your situation..You know, asking God in prayer is a real GOOD place to start..Hope that the situation improves..
Tight Lines,

I would be more than happy to send you some rain. It's been raining in northern MN since early May. I've been fished 15 days since May 15th and I'll bet it rained 13 of them. I've been very grateful that I've got a good rainsuit. I've been wondering why I didn't by the new Lund Pro V IFS. We not only got rain at the Lake of the Woods last weekend, but the wind was blowing 40MPH on Saturday. It's raining right now in Duluth, MN and the forcast is for more right through the weekend. I'll pray for rain for you and maybe we can balance this weather out. TGG

I haven't been able to get on the water for over three weeks now because our chain of lakes is closed due to high water. Let me take a quick look outside....yup, still raining. I think you might be wise to import a couple of folks from NE Illinois/SE Wisconsin maybe they'll bring this rain with 'em.

Best Regards,

FJH

I had heard that the Mississippi and Lake Michigan were suffering from low water levels. Will all the rain that MN,WI,Il and IA are getting even things out? Or have you caught up and are now dealing with flood levels?

I shouldn't be surprised at our problems, we live in a semi arid region and never get alot of rain. A cold front came thru last night and we are finally out of the 90s, but not a drop so far. Usually runoff lasts till July, but most of the snow pack in already history and most rivers are already subsiding. It could be a long painful summer out here.

In SE Wisconsin we had the wettest May on record and we are on pace for the same in June. I don't believe that we have had back to back days without rain since the opener. All the rain came too late to help our walleye spawing on the Wolf, they had dry marshes in April.

As for Lake Michigan, the Army Corp of Engineers was quoted in the paper that we needed a couple wet years in a row to bring it up substantially. Good Luck with your fires!

Neal, should I bring marshmellows and hotdogs with me to the get-together? Seriously though lived through the so. california blazes a few years back and I know how it feels to wish for rain instead of wishing it didn't. Kinda makes ya feel real small in the world when you witness mother nature doing her work....We'll be doing a rain dance for all of ya out there.

I hope Glendo will have water in it by the time October rolls around. If we don't start getting some rain soon the farmers will be pulling alot of water out of all our lakes. Its very cloudy and only about 60 degrees right now, but the sky just refuses to open up.

The great lakes levels came up 3 - 4 inches in the last part of May, more than usual. It takes alot of water to do that. The levels are still probably 3 feet low. We've had a nice wet spring in central Michigan this year. The other night while fishing a 20 minute downpour came through where it rained such big drops so hard that water was splashing from the lake into the boat. It was cool.

I live on the Iowa river. Three weeks ago I could wade for smallies with out getting my shorts wet -- now its bank full and swift water.

Neal I was worried my well would dry up and rains finally came, Hang in there.

Sitting here in Denver. It's been drizzling for a few hours now. Wondering if I need to get Neal to ask the net gods to send John a pinpoint system or if I can get results asking myself.

There ya go Neal, hope the drizzle/rain helps.

Well we finally got some rain. In fact it rained all morning while Eric and I fished Chatfield today. The fires are almost out and we caught 19 walleyes. What difference a day makes.
