Hi Everyone: I have a question and I hope someone can help me out! I want to buy my husband (some of you may remember him, Waliwz!) a Mustang jacket and bib pants for Christmas. I would like to buy the gold/black color but I am hesitant because I am not sure of the washing instructions. Mustang says the suit should be "hand washed" (guess who will be doing the hand washing??) but I was wondering if anyone out there has ever washed theirs on the "gentle" cycle in the machine? Not that I want to make things easier on myself or anything!!, but I know what his jackets look (and smell)like now after a day on the lake, and I am afraid stains will not come out of the gold/black. We live in Canada and I can get a good deal on the jacket from a dealer but they only have the gold/black in stock. Sorry to be so long winded, and thanks for any help you can provide.

You have another option that is very good. Buoy O Buoy of Ontario makes a very good one piece and two piece suit. I've been wearing one piece since the early 90's. I wear it in late fall and early spring, Ice fishing and duck hunting. It's warm, dry and most of all, safe.

I used to rely on my Columgia gear, and it works well for hunting. I purchased Mustang Survival gear last winter and I found it to be warmer and dryer than the high end Columbia gear I had worn previously. Spendy yes.. But with the flotation and warmth it's worth it for those who choose to be on the water in very cold temps. The parka I purchased is to hot for 30+ degree temps. The bibs could be better designed for relieving yourself but they most definately are warm. There's a reason why many governments Coast Gaurds and Navy's use Mustang Survival gear. Just my 2 cents.....

Crafty,
I have the Mustang overalls and wear them on Lake Erie. They are very warm and was a great investment. As for washing. You never really need to wash them. They are waterproof. Kind of like a life vest. All they need is a spraying down with the hose and hang em up.
good lucj,
Jess
I have the buoy o buoy one piece suit
I purchased it in canada and love it
it cost me about 175.00 american
it is a great suit, warm dry and full flotation

I have the Mustang survival jump suit. I love it. To answer the original question. I can be washed in a machine. I take mine to the laundry mat and use the BIG front loaders. Throws my washer off balance cause of the weight. Use no soap, or he will be mr. Sudzy when he gets home. Buy it, he will love it

Hi Jim: We live in Canada so I would like to buy this side of the border (exchange & shipping would be too much) so I think I will be buying the bib pants at The Fishin Hole but as far as the jacket, I found a website in Quebec (it is a little hard to understand but most engines will translate) that has a good price on the jacket. It is called Naviclub. Hope this helps and thanks to everyone for all the great info, I think I will take a chance on the gold/black combo. Della

Dutchman, I am in the same boat as you were with your Columbia. I have the top of the line Quad-parka and bibs and the leak. Fishing all winter and especially Erie in the cold water months I need something better. I have been on Mustangs site and can't figure how to order them. I also have looked at many different styles of the siuts and bib/jacket combos, but what is the best for fisherman with all things considered. Thanks -Kevin
