I have used rubber core sinkers ahead of cranks for years, what would be the advantage of snapweights? I can change rubber cores quickly, they are in line and appear less likely to snag and they are cheap when compared to snapweights. They also make a nice speed o bead for in line boards. Am I missing something?

Nope, your not missing a thing. The only advantage to snap weights is that you can set them any distance you like ahead of the lure. There are times they seem to work best as much as 100' ahead of the lure. Although 50' in the "normal" distance. The longer the drop from the weight to the lure the slower the depth change resulting from a speed change occurs. Or the closer the faster. Obviously you are doing nicely with the weight only 6-8' ahead of the lure. (if it ain't broke don't fix it!!) Hope this makes sense. Good luck . Oh yea snap weights do come much heavier. Like 4oz. And we use em that heavy. In fact I've used 8ozers before. but not very often. Take care & catch a biggun.
