: Ranger Spare Tire Carrier

I'm debating about adding a second spare tire to my 07 Ranger 1860 trailer. Yeah, I know what some of you are thinking. Most of us know that trailer tires leave a lot to be desired as far as service life is concerned. Out here in Arizona, the pavement temps along with the sun exposure sure shortens a tire's service life even more.

I just came back from a weekend trip where I had tire issues with two tires that were purchased less than a year ago - with only one spare available. My drive times to lakes that I go to frequently can range from 2 hours to 8 hours if going to the upper end of Lake Powell with not much civization in between to get help from.

Now back to my question/request :) Before I do this I'd sure like to take a look at the newer 1860/1850 spare tire mount or even any 620/621 mount for that matter. So if any of you out there are bored & have a second to take a close up picture of your spare tire carrier & post it here, it would be greatly appreciated. That way it'll give me some things to think about before I call Ranger Parts or come up with a home built solution.

Thanks

the new side mount is welded on so I dont know if it really is an option, I do like it because if gives a step into and out of the front of the boat, great when launching/loading....

Cousin,
If you want the extra tire, toss it into the back of your tow vehicle, or lay it in the back of the boat and move on.

You really don't need to go to the bother and expense of an extra spare tire carrier.

Be safe

if you lost the built-in Ranger tongue jack, and put it on one of the side rails, could you lay your 2nd spare on top of the frame, overlapping the current one? Then, all you would need is a simple U-bolt like this.

Hot run,
I like the "Lay in spare tire holder" that is in your attached picture.
I had never seen that style holder before on a trailer.

Do you know if that was a stock trailer accessory or something that was added to the trailer?

It looks like a very nice clean add to the trailer, if it was an after market.

REW,
That was the way Ranger held the spare tire for a few years, but I believe they abandonded the concept since many were known to "drag" on launch ramps. The current horizontal holder does a nice job of also acting as a step, if needed, to enter via the bow area. But, I'll be danged if I can find a picture of it right now.
