why does my newer X-85 lock up or freeze.this happens at high speed.it locks up on some high
depth number.I have to turn it off.and sometimes
that wont clear it.but after some time it does come back.also seems to loose bottom alot

Tim,
Sounds like your transducer is not properly installed. You have to make sure that it is not behind any ribs on a aluminum boat, and not to close to the outboard. If you are o.k. here you probably have to lower it some. Does it seem to loose bottom when you make a turn? This is a good indicator that the 'ducer is to high. Good Luck.
Are you running two sonars at once? It doen't sound like it but you could also be picking up interference from a second one. Ussually the digital depth will flash a high number when this is a problem.
