View Full Version : crossing at Sault Ste Marie
Can anyone tell me what the wait will be to cross into Canada at Sault Ste Marie on a weekday during mid-day. thanks
I can tell you this: we came back across the border from Canada Friday evening and the Fish and Wildlife were checking all fisherpeople. They checked everything. I had one officer who checked our truck and he did not know the limit for the area were were fishing in. Hope this helps someone out.

We usually cross Sault Ste Marie on Friday evening or Saturday afternoon. I think the worst we've ever encountered was a 15 minute wait. Since you won't have many work commuters during mid-day, it should be a pretty short wait.
Catch (and release) a bunch of them!
i crossed into canada and back last night...sunday night... took me one minute to get in....and one minute to get back...even had boat on back..... just went over there get a canadian license but they did not take longer than that
man i hate that bridge.....too high, too narrow w/ boat on back

You wouldn't "hate that bridge" if you had crossed by ferry before there was a bridge. It's a snap now, even when the wait may be "long."
Incidentally, I once waited overnight to cross the straits at Mackinac in the 1950s when the big bridge was going up. You can have ferry boats.

I live in the Sault Canada and so far bridge waits have been minimal. I usually cross once a week, and just went across to check out the PWT in Sault Michigan. it was 7:00 pm and a 1 car wait both ways. No construction on the bridge either. (Even though theres a posting for construction.)
I think you picked a good time to cross.
Take care
