I'm thinking about fishing McConaughy, but have never fished it and was wondering what's the best way (what & where) to fish it? And not at night.
THANKS!!

I haven't fished big Mac' for a couple years now, but during May and June always had good luck fishing sandy (to small rip-rap) points. Fish were usually in about 10' of water. Leeches drifted behind a bottom bouncer with a single blade usually proved to be most productive (or slow trolled only fast enough to just spin blade) - but have some big minnows handy - sometimes they wont touch the leaches but destroy the minnows! We normally fished the northern shoreline east of Otter Creek and have caught several 5lb+ eyes.
Overcast and breezy days were best for this method, if calm and bright, fish early and late, or look for them in about 15'-25' in the mid-day brightness. Oh, and remember depending on your fishfinder, you may not see them laying on the bottom. Have confidence you found a good area, fish it, then move on or just follow the hoards of other fishing boats!
Good luck!
