Sad, but true.

The Walleye List is unfortunately done. Let's thank Mark Brandt for all the time he devoted to it, and to all the good and helpful information we all received from it.

"Mark,
You are right, I have made mistakes. But you know what, I am tired of all this. All good things must come to an end and this shall be the last post to the Walleye List. It was fun while it lasted, but I don't have time to moderate the list and I can't please everyone. I am sorry so
many of you have found this list disappointing. I had a vision when I started this list and almost made it, but I can see now, it will never
get there. I have made some great friends here, and I hope those friendships last, but it is time to move on. Yes, we all make mistakes. No one knows the whole story on the your brothers removal, or my attempts to add your brother back on, but I tried to keep the stuff private. This has been building for a while and
I am really sorry, but I don't want to do this anymore. The list will be active until the DIGEST goes out tomorrow. Then it will be removed. No posts will be allowed to go thru.

Thanks everyone and Good fishing!

Mark"

LAST EDITED ON Jun-19-00 AT 03:27PM (CST)[p]I don't know why Mark decided to close the Walleye list (and I don't care to become involved in any "politics") but I am sorry to see it go away.

I have started another list, and hopefully we can continue what Mark has decided to bow out of. The new list is "Walleyes", and please invite everyone to join by sending an empty email message to:

To put this all in context. This was a reply to a complaint about something administrative I had done with his brothers account. The person felt it was necessary to air in public, something I was trying to handle privately. That is neither here nor there tho. I watched the quality of the list erode for the past couple of months. There was nothing I could do to stop it, altho I tried. I had been thinking about stopping it for a while and this seemed as good a time as any. It's no ones fault, the list had run it's course. The boards here at Walleye Central will more than make up the lack of information. It just won't come by e-mail anymore. Thanks to all that were memebers and their contributions. I will be around. I haven't left the net, just the list.

A reminder not to take walleye central for granted. God only knows how much time Scott and others devote to keeping this site current and as far as I can tell they do it for love of the sport not for financial gain.

Sometimes we need a reminder to say thank you.

Thank you Mark for a job well done.

Thank you Scott.
