Now I know that most people on this board advise against buying a Humminbird in the first place, but,I bought it before I found this great website and now I'm stuck with it. Anyway, it's a Wide Panorama. Last weekend I was on a local lake with a friend and we were anchored less than two feet apart. His Eagle finder was marking all kinds of fish....mine was showing no fish. I had marked about three fish in three hours of fishing. He had marked numereous fish in the same time period and in same area as I was in. I have adjusted the transducer many differant ways, I also tried every adjustment on the LCD and still no fish. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong or should I send it back for adjustment?

Depending on where you bought it -- most dealers have a money back guarentee--
I would suggest that you return it for credit, and buy a different brand.

I think that you will be much happier with something else.

Take care

I have a humingbird that is a year old that decided not to read the depth, so I got a new transducer. These things are throw away depth finders, I will never buy another one. Take the advice of the previous posts and purchase another brand such as Lowrance. I have seen several work for 9 to 11 months then kaput broke!

There was no mention of any fish being caught so have you considered that perhaps your HBIRD was working fine and the other persons was not.Just for the record I have both Eagle and Lorance in my Lund and I like the EAGLE.... CROSS THEIR EYES,

I have the exact same model that you have, and it works ok. Have you tried adjusting the gain up. start at 0 than work up to 1,2,3,4,and5. In shallow water, the cone is very small. However, the panarama unit actually has three transducer beams, one left, one right, and one straight down. You should be able to graph more fish than your buddy! make sure that your graph is set up for the tri-beam mode, also. You also can send your graph in to the factory, or skipper marine to have it re-calibrated or checked out.

I use my Hummingbird as a depth finder only, Garmin finds me the fish. The 'bird is a nice starter fishfinder but I'd upgrade as soon as possible. The 'bird will fly the coop (boat) in the winter.

I have a LCR 3D Hummingbird that is approximately 3 or 4 years old that will show me my 1/8 oz jig in 40 ft of water, I can watch it go down or bring it up to suspended fish which I did this spring, only to find out that the suspended fish were sheepshead, BUMMER. I use it a lot on Erie.

I have an older hummingbird on my bow only for depth, and heavier weeds. I use an eagle for detail.BUT my brother-in-law bought a new humm. this winter and it by far out preformed my eagle (on the ice). he was picking up tear drops when mine was picking up intermittent a sweedish pimple. really seemed to work on the ice anyway.
I'll be going to a vexlar for the ice this year.
