West end of lake will typically turn on once the water cools a few more degrees. Right now they're still out in Lake Michigan. The area just inside the channel on the South side if the lake is a very popular spot for jigging Hopkins spoons. If you like to troll, Hot-n-tots and shad raps seem to be the baits that deliver. If the fish are going good you can catch them on Deep Jr.'s, Wally Divers, and Husky Jerks, depending on depth. We do best running 10 to 18 ft. contours. The water is always muddy or algae colored so chartreuse is probably our best color. Once in a while the fish are suspended really high in the water column and we do pretty good with metallic baits with red bills or flashy silver bills. This seems to happen most on sunny days with better light penetration. If you want more information, e-mail me at "good36@chartermi.net". Stay on the western end of the lake and use the DNR launch site by Anchorage Marina off of Ottawa Beach Rd. Watch your depth because there are some really shallow spots due to the low water levels.

Great info from SUPERTROLLER in the previous post. The bite on Muskegon has been dismal at best this year, but I look for things to kick off once the water cools down. Most serious eye anglers look forward to the full moon phase in October. Some of the biggest fish of the year can be caught around this time of year on the Muskegon.

Most anglers will be trolling large cranks in a variety of patterns to entice these hawgs. It's best to come early while it's still light to get a feel for where everything is at so that you don't have too many problems with navigation after dark. You can launch at Fishermans Landing, or the new improved launch at the State Park.

Good Luck!
