Would like some suggestions on which stand alone gps unit to buy. Not interested in hand held units. I fish waters here in Kansas that are 500 to 20,000 acres in size. Would like a unit that is very user friendly and of superior quality. Have looked at several but cannot make a decision. Any positive input from you guys would be very helpful. I am replacing all electronics on my boat. Getting an x-15 for the front, a Genetron for the dash. Neither with GPS. I have a Bottomline tourny HR gps compatible but the unit is not user friendly so its going by the wayside!! Thanks and all help appreciated. Terry

Take a look at the Garmin 152 (around $300). There's also a similar/older model - the 126 (internal antenna) and the 128 (external antenna). I love the Garmin menus and software - soooo easy to use.

I agree with Ronnie, the Garmins have a very easy to understand menu. I have a 128(internal antenna) and is fine. I use the GPS on the x-15 just as a back up since the Garmin is so user friendly.

Ronnie is right on. I also have a Garmin 152. I got lucky here because I had not done a lot of research into what to buy when I got it. Purchased it off ebay. It is wonderful and much simpler than many higher priced GPS units. Using the compass page to go to a waypoint is probably the easiest to use system. This was a purchase I have never regretted.
