I always use Trilene 17# XT

If your line is breaking, I'd be willing to bet you are not using a snubber. Attach the snubber to the Dipsey, then attach the leader to the snubber. There is enormous pressure on the line when you get a healthy strike -- especially if you use a non-stretch line from reel to Dipsey.

Snubbers are well worth the couple bucks. Try one.

We run 25# pure flourocarbon (which vanish is not). It's stiff and can't spin up. The snubber thing is important also especially if you are using a super line. Wet your knots and see if that doesn't help. (I mean really slobber them up)

I've been using 30# test Fireline (12# diam.) tied to the dipsey. Then a snubbee and 14# trilene to the flasher or the spoon. Mke sure you set you drag a little light because the pressure of trolling 2-3 mph and a big fish smacking that lure creates a lot of torque. Just gradually tighten your drag while you're fighting the fish. This will reduce a lot of break offs. Hope this helps.

yep Seaguar, and I'm trying P-Line now, both only available in 25 meter spools. Stiff but the cross bred harnesses we run can't twist em, and they are so tuff you can abuse them (like yankin them ugly sheephead)without problems. And thank you for the kind words.

Yes, the question was on snubbers. I was not entirely clear on that. Thanx!

Thanks for all the replies! I should gave more info on my set up , I am running 4 Walleye angler trolling rods with Daiwa 47lc combos and I am running 20# xt on my reels (mono because of the graphite rods) and 14# xt on my leaders (seemed to well last year ,no break offs!) . then I bought a spool of Vanish to try but did not like it for leaders because I could break it with my hands so I never even tried it. I was just wondering what everyone else is using ,Thanks ,Derb.
