I'm buying a new truck to pull the 9000# boat I bought last fall. Will probably buy in the next 10 days. I'm going with Ford F250 Supercab Longbed with Powerstroke Diesel 4x4 Automatic Transmission. Limited Slip rear end 3.73 axel. XLT Package (basically every option other than leather) Sticker Price is $36,595. Anyone bought one recently that is willing to share what they had to pay. Also what kind of milage do you get on the highway when you are not towing? Shopping dealers in Cleveland, Akron, Canton, Toledo, OH and greater Detroit area. Please don't turn this into a Ford/Chevy/Dodge or PowerStroke/Cummins debate. I'm also not interested in a V10 Gas engine.
All input appreciated.

Price sounds average, I paid 31 for one with the V-10. Diesel is probably better for you with that weight of boat. I just can't stand the noise.

Sounds like a great package for pulling that boat. I sure hope you've got that power stroke in that boat.I've got a buddy that bought the same package as yours only the short bed. He has been disapponted in the mileage 13 highway and 10 to 12 pulling a inclosed trailor. He bought a computer chip 450$ and picked up 2mpg.and 50+ hp. He ran a before and after on a chassis dyno to confirm the hp.The dealor says the mpg will pick up as the mi on the truck increase. PS the chip will not comply with the warrenty, but can be changed in mins.He loves the hp and says nothing will stay with him in the hills. Good Luck, HUCK

Steve.. I just looked into buying a lesser $ Ford (F150 super,4wd, 5.4, loaded) I am able to purchase thru our Fleet service at work for supposed wholesale. The price was about 14% off the list price. Our best area dealer without the Fleet sale plan came close to this price.. about $150 over this. If these #'s would be applicable for your area that should put your rig around $31,500 to $32,000. Good towing and good fishing.

I bought a 99` same as you are looking at, the one thing I would want is a shortbox. The turning ratio is a lot better. my price was $31,250. If noise is a problem they offer a niose deading package which I might still opt. As far as mileage motor only has 12,000 miles. They tell me mileage will get better around 30,000. When you get your new truck hook up your boat and hammer it to break it in right. Oh by the way 15 mpg highway at 80mph,better if slower (empty).

I bought the same package as you have in a 2 wheel drive model. I get 18 mpg empty and I have a friend that has the same thing and he gets 18 mpg also. He pulls a 10,000# camper and gets 12 mpg. I paid $27,000 for my Ford.

Congradulations

I picked up my new 2000 F150 4x4 extended cab from Integrty Ford in Paulding, OH about 5 weeks ago. They sold the truck to me at invoice cost. The salesman told me that if I had purchased an F250 he would have added $100 b/c that's what they sell them to the local rescue vechical maker for. No I don't work for them but this dealship has treated me right since I moved here and I highly recommend them. 419-399-2555 ask for Rick. PS invoice is roughly 85% of sticker.

have same truck you are looking at, you did not mention over-drive which i have. I went with 8 ft. box for better ride and handeling on road, but turning radius suffers.get 18 mpg. emty and 13 mpg. with 18 ft. boat. paid 32,500 for truck. best pulling truck I owned.

Steve,
have a 96 f250 supercab longbed with a 3:50 rear end. I just got back from Kentucky , non- towing mileage was 19 mpg. that was running 75mph all the way. when towing 8000 lb boat, trailer and gear, i get an average of 12 mpg but thats towing at 65-70 and includes hills. Best i've got towing was 16 on flatground holding it between 55 and 60.
They are an awesome truck!
Good luck!

Steve,
one downside is oil changes....14 qts each time!
Your mileage should gradually improve, but dont baby it.
Also read your manual about additives for the cooling system to keep the "ph" in balance. very important.

2-4 month delivery? Is that right? I visted with a Ford dealer yesterday that quoted me a 4-6 week delivery on a gas model....I wonder who is correct?
