Does anyone use these? I have one or two and they never leave my tackle box. Well actually they did, when I recently took them out to make room for other "confidence" lures.
Is anyone having good success with these?

I've had guys tell me they are great for big fish in murky water like when a river is running very high. I have dragged them on the Mississippi side by side w/ Shad Raps, Wally Divers and Reef Runners. Caught fish on all of the others but never even a hit on the Lightening Shad. They are currently taking up space in my box. As I have so little confidence in them, I will probably never catch a fish on one. I would rather pay $4 for another crank and have half as many. Interesting how they are in all the sale bins here too.

Now if I remember correctly, I have a video around here somewhere that has Keith K and Gary P. endorsing the forementioned cranks! I went out and bought something like 4 of them shortly after watching them hammer the 5-8 pounders on them. I do admit that I have caught a few walleyes pullin the SLS, and 1 was about 3 lb. But compared to the wally divers and shad raps, The SLS really pull hard. I don't mind flatlining them in shallower water but to put them behind a board--No. I'll bet that with the unique wiggle and squat body that on certain waters they might really clean up! It'll be up to me to find out just WHAT body of water that is!! LOL Good fishing<;{{{{{<<( Mr.Pike

I also jumpped at the sls when they first came out, I used them in Saginaw Bay for one season, not the producer I thought for eyes but they do work on smallies.

I caught a couple of smallmouths the first time I flatlined it for suspended fish also. I haven't given it a fair shot yet to be able to pass judgement on them.

If your having a slow day you can put the big one's on and they put up a pretty good fight.

That's true they really dig deep. I think it might be a really good lure for Stripers & Hybrids suspended over thermocline in summer. With 6/14 Fireline you can get down about 30 feet.

Good thought! Mine stay in the box most of the time too. The only time I have ever caught fish with them is at night on Erie in the late fall, pulled VERY SLOW with occasional pauses. I recently picked up some short lipped ones to try this fall.

That it what I use also is the short lipped ones trolled very slow in the fall. Works real well on saugeye in water less than 10 feet. At least here in the central ohio area seems to work.

How deep does the short lipped version troll?

I trolled the LS04 shallow runners this spring on leadcore and they matched fish for fish with #5 shad raps on pool 4.
