Considering purchasing s Chevy 2500 HD 4 door Duramax diesel. Looking for mileage both empty and towing. Get GM discount so Ford etc. out of the question.

Have a 2002 crew cab shortbox. I have 11000 miles on it and have figured the milage on every fill up. Empty I get between 19 and 22.5. I travel at 75 because thats where the truck wants to run. Pulling my 18 foot boat I get 14.5 to 16. I go 70 because thats where the truck wants to run. Pulling my 24 foot 5 th wheel with the boat behind I get 11.5 running at 65 because thats where I want to run. I have all the power I could ever need and the truck is very comfortable.

I HAVE 2002 2500HD CREW CAB LONG BOX D-MAX/ALLISON. 22000 MILES. BEST EVER-17.9 MPG WORST EVER 8.5 MPG (TRAILER) BUT UNDER NORMAL DIVING, I GET AROUND 15 MPG. I PULL A 40FT ENCLOSED GOOSE NECK, WEIGHING APPROX. 14000 POUNDS LOADED, IN THE WINTER AND USUALLY GET ABOUT 10 MPG. MY MILLAGE MAY SEEM A BIT LOW. IT IS FOR GOOD REASON- I GO FAST! AT LEAST 10 OVER SPEED LIMIT ALL THE TIME. I EVEN HAD MY 40FT GOOSENECK DOING 95 MPH. NOT ONE PROBLEM WITH MY D-MAX SO DON'T LISTEN TO THE FALSE RUMORS OF BLOWED UP D-MAXS.

Is it 4X4 or 2X4? My buddy just bought one and is pretty upset by the mileage. He has a 4x4 just like yours. He gets 15 mpg normal. He recently towed his fifth wheel (10,500 lbs.) and got 8 mpg. He towed it using the tow haul mode. Is this a mistake and should he tow without that engaged?

Thanks in advance.

I love my dmax/allison combo, its awesome. I can't even tell my 261 Sportcraft is back there going down the road.

I have about 22,000 on my truck, so far no problems. Its a 4x4 extended cab shortbed. Average MPG empty is 17-19, my best ever was 21. Towing the boat I get between 14-16, ALOT depends on the terain and traffic, stop and go traffice with the boat hurts the mileage a little.

Winter time, I'm from garrettsville, ohio.... This past winter I never plugged the block heater in. The truck fired right up. I usually let it warm up 10-15 minutes before leaving for work. By then the cab was nice and warm and the ice was off the windows. My winter mileage including warm ups was 14-16.

As for going 95mph with a gooseneck.... I would like to see that sometime!!!!
