Hi I tried post ad sauger.com but no one seems to want to reply so I thought I would try here and hope that at least someone can get me heading in the right direction. My question is what is a good way to try to catch a few northern pike around the Lake Pepin, Red Wing area. in mid July. WOuld anyone know what presentations or aeras to try?

I know guys that catch them on Pepin. They say you have to find cool water inlets and rivers. And when you do you can really hammer the nice northerns...lots of 10 lb + fish. Doing anything from soaking a sucker under a bobber to casting big plugs and bucktails.

Just tell everyone that you are going out to catch enough WALLEYES for a fish fry. Then you should have excellent success at catching gators.Haven't we all had these days??? LOL
Sorry, couldn't resist. Good luck on the Pike!

In my neck of the woods the hotter the better. Find your feeder creeks and flatline cranks at 2.5 to 3.5 mph. I use a crank that matches the bait fish in that body of water. Run 1 of the rods right in the prop wash, they will hang there sometimes. The best time of the day has been 12:00 high noon, why I not sure but the last 2 years I caught a 44in 27pd and a 40in 21pd, with quite a few from 30 - 38 inches. If you prefer to bait fish soak a few big suckers. Oh yeah when they hit trolling hang on sometimes it feels like a snag until they make the 1st run. Hope this helps
