Morning Juls
I was wondering how is that Copperhead reel that you bought in the spring? I was going to buy one because it felt so smooth and looked half way decent. I know it has 4 ball bearing and that is what I like.I wanted it for pitching jigs.So what do you think about it? I saw your post earlier in the sring where you bought it thats' why I know you have one. Thanks for some info
Big Ray

I've had one for about a year and a half.Nice smooth reel and drag.I really liked the "feel" of it.It is now starting to wear out though , doesn't reel as smothly as it used to, after 1 1/2 years of pretty hard use.Must be from speed reelin all those 25" Mille Lacs walleyes.

Hi Big Ray,

Well, one of those reels in at the bottom of the Illinois River..hahahah hope the fish are having fun with it..;-)

I replaced it with another one, and so far I have had no problems with it. I have two of them that I use for bottom bouncing. I tried it pitching jig and pigs when I went bass fishing with a friend, and it worked great, but jig and pigs have more weight than just a jig tipped with a crawler or leech. I have not tried just pitching regular jigs with it, and I probably never would. I prefer to use an open faced spinning reel to jig fish with.

My MWC partner bought one the same time I did, and one of hers fell apart. Doesn't reel the line in anymore. Proabably something easy to fix, but she has had no time to check it out yet.
Busy, busy, busy.

I bought the reel because I liked the low profile and light weight of it. The price was right too. There are probably better reels out there, but I'm happy with the Mitchell Copperheads.

Good luck in your decision...

Juls
