I was given two Cannon Minitroll downriggers. They are in new condition but came with everything except the weights. What size weight should be used (4#, 6#)? Will they handle 8#? Thanks for any help anyone can give.

The instructions that came with mine say 2#

Depending on what you are pulling behind them. I had a minitroll and used 8# and 6# weights on them and they work just fine. My instructions suggested 6#ers.
