Not sure of the results of the tourney, but a guy from Pittsbugh caught a 13.5 lb walleye on Friday night or Saturday morning. I believe it was 34 1/2 inches. Didnt see the pics, but Pages Sporting has them. The guy wasnt fishing in the KAWA, and I believe it was the only walleye he caught. Wonder how big that fish would be in a few months?

13.5 lbs. The guy was Rick Thames (PWT pro) and he told me a #5 shad rap with a snap weight in about 23' of H2O. He did fish the tourney with no more luck. I told him that people from pittsburgh should'nt be raping our lake of those big brutes, thats our breeding stock. I told him to go to Erie to catch wall hangers. By the looks of it in a couple of years this would be state record material. I think 9-10 lbs. won it. It was definatley a jigging bite,I took my Bow Mount off because its broken and didn't really have much control for jigging so we trolled all day only catching one short eye',but alot of nice smallies and big pike were tearing up those cranks.

Gilligan,
It was a tough bite the water temp is not cold enough yet and it was very hard to stay on your fish due to the west nortwest winds and the cold front didn't help either. We took 4th even though we lost 4 pigs. I lost one I could not get off the bottom it probably was the biggest eye I ever had on and may partner lost three others that would of tipped the scale. It was a bad day for us and we made some mistakes and could not get the fish in the boat. Time to relax and fish for fun the best bite on the Kinzua is soon to come. (real soon) Jigs and minnow and Silver buddy's were the best baits for this tournament. The 13.5 lb. eye that was caught on Saturday was a dandy come late February. you could add another 3-5 lbs. of weight on that fish and she may have been very close to the record. One more year she would of been the record. Good fishing!
