I am interested in investing into a good quality boat. I like to fish for bass, pike, muskie, walleye, trout, and some others. What type of boat is a good "all-round" boat that I could use to fish for all of these.

Triton 205 with a full windshield and a glass liner gets my vote.

I have a Crestliner 1650 SC Fishhawk. It is 16 ft and 87" wide. Has a side console, casting decks in the front and back. I have a 75 HP Honda, but it is rated for a 90 HP and I have talked with people who only have a 50 and are happy.

I bought it to fish walleyes, smallies, muskies and anything else that swims. I also want to pull the kids on a tube someday. I have enough space for three people plus camping gear for a three day weekend of island camping without refueling or doing multiple trips.

For me, this is the perfect all around boat. Check it out, it might be for you also. But there are alot of boats to choose from.

Good luck,
Fritz

There are lots of great all-around boats out there, including Lund, Crestliner, Starcraft, Spectrum, Smokercraft, ...

Personally I prefer an aluminum open-bow boat with a walkthrough windshield or dual console, and an outboard motor with a prop. Right now I'm running a 19.5' Spectrum with 115hp Yamaha, 8hp Honda, and bow mount electric. It works great for salmon, steelhead, walleye, bass, trout, and panfish. But you'll hear lots of valid reasons why others prefer fiberglass, or inboard/outboards, or jet pumps. It's a matter of personal preference. Go fishing with a few varieties before you decide.
Good luck!

I currently own a stratos 219 and it was(in my opion) the best all around boat. If you can find a used one take a look. The new craze would be to go with a triton 189, the reason I say that is it is less money than the 205 yet has most of the same features as a 205. I am ordering a 2001 Triton 205, the only reason is I love fishing tournaments. I have been in a 205 in 2' of water and the boat handled like a charm.
There are alot of excellent boats out on the market today this is just the tip of the iceburg. I thought about going back to alum. the thing that hold me back is from fiber to alum. the prices are really close. Do your self a favor if you dont intend on selling the boat right away spend the extra and be happy, I have heard alot of people saying "I wish I would have done this, or that"
Hope this helped you out in your search, and whatever you buy I am sure you will be pleased with it.

It doesn't matter where you fish, a Princecraft 188 DLX, with a 150 Ficht and 10 hp. 4-stroke Evinrude will get the job done in any conditions.

I used to have a 16 ft Lund and loved it. Was going to buy another until I saw the Ranger Cherokee that I now use. Its 17.5 long and very wide and roomy. 75 horse Mariner tiller. All welded hull, baked enamel finish, live well, bait well, rod storage, comes w/trolling motor and Lowrance liquid crystal. I fish for everything from panfish to muskies and this rig covers it all. I cant say enough about how nice it looks and how well it handles and fishes. Make sure and check it out before you buy anything else. Priced very resonably too.

i think the most versatile all round fishing boat would have to be the Alumacraft Phantom. it has excellent storage. comes in a 17 ft range. They are usually easy to find used.just the way it is set up is very fisherman friendly. i think i saw a used one at mw marine. just look up mwmarine .com to get a hold of them. 4 of my frinds own them and with out a lie they are a great boat to fish out of.

Take a look at the Yarcrafts. They've got something for everyone, from the 16'economy to the 19'loaded. You'll love the "glass". Enjoy!!

By the web page, you aren't new to fishing and it looks like you probally fish northeastern WI. No matter where you fish, Tuffy boats has the best multi species boats on the market IN MY OPINION.
The 1700 GT is a simple fishing boat with all the extras you'd look for in most other top of the line boats. The Side console model should be available around May. Just over 800 lbs and the tiller is rated for up to a 60 and the SC will be rated at least to a 90. It's priced comparable to most aluminum boats in a similar class.
The 1760 is a big water or small pond boat with hp ratings up to a 150.
The Esox series is the prefered boat by literally hundreds of inland muskie guides. It's a low profile boat that can handle most any water on inland lakes.
The 1990s are the pick of serios multispecies fisherman, tournament, guides and weekend fisherman. With tiller models rated up to 100hp and single or dual console up to 200, no water is to big and the 1990 can fish suprisingly small waters.
There are several models in the popular Renegade series, too.
All Tuffys are made of a kevlar/glass composite for maximum strenth and durability, while keeping the weight actually below similar sized aluminum.
The Osprey 1990 weighs a mere 1275lb at almost 20ft.
The more I'm around these boats, the more I'm amazed at the quality construction of each one.
Check out the web site at www.tuffyboats.com for specs and your nearest dealer or e-mail me.

Ranger, 690 or 692 are excellent for anything you'd fish for and you can get in a lot of small or shallow places with one.
They are well built and hold their value and appearance well. There are several on the Walleye Central Classifieds page that are excellent deals. Most of the guys, if not all of them, are up grading to the big 620 or the new 619.
Can't hurt to look and you will end upo getting a good as new boat and save 1000's

I really like the Tuffy 1990 Ospry pro. The rod lockers are great! They are very big! I really like the way that they have layed out the boat. The Live wells are positoned very nice and there is no end to what you could fit in the storage compartments. The finish of the boat is exeptional and should last and look great for many years. Although this is the boat that I really like, They have a lot of differant models. Check out there web site and see what you think! Good Luck in your search!!!

I have a 1987 lund MR. PIKE with a 40 horse mariner its work great for me, but the wife wants me to buy a 1750 lund, so i guess that mine is for sale it's a good boat and runs perfect, top speed is around 30mph.

I agree with the person who reccommended the stratos 219. I used to own one and it was a great all around boat. It was able to run strong in rough water and was always a dry smooth ride. Very fast as well. Plenty of storage. If you can find a good used one snap it up you won't be sorry. check the walleye central classifieds there is one for sale in Mn. Good luck.
