I just got thru reading in the Minneapolis Star and Tribune about different possible lifetime license proposals. Sounds like it might save me some money in the long run(I'M 29 and an active outdoorsman). What I am after is for some response(both pro and con) from people in states that already have some license structures like this in place. Thanks in advance for the input. Black Max

I am from Oklahoma which has lifetime hunting and/or fishing licenses. Have had mine for over 25 years and calculate that it has paid for itself many times over. Cost back then was $225(now well over $300)which includes all yearly tags except trout license and federal duck stamp.
Even if I leave the state, I can come back fish and hunt without bothering about out of state fees.
It has been a good investment for me.

I'm from Wisconsin and do pretty much everything - fish trout, salmon, walleyes, bowhunt, rifle, upland etc. Would love to see a lifetime license in Wisconsin - right now I spend about $100/year on state licenses.....

Black Max,

I like the idea of the lifetime licence but, I am conserned about its affect on current and future program funding. At first, i'm sure the state would receive a large windfall of revenue that they would need to manage (not redirect to the general fund) secondly, in the future, would they see a decrease in revenue growth? I'm not sure what the answer is but, I would like to see responsible, long term stewartship of our resources. My 2 cents.
