I stole some money from my paycheck before my old lady could get her grubbys on it, so I'm going to buy a reel to match my FigRig 6'6" medium light extra fast fiber pro. I use 10 lb. fireline on it.
I've been leaning towards Pinnacles, but just can't decide between a Peak Limited PKF30 or a Deadbolt Limited DLF30.
Any one have experience with both these?
If you want to use your reel in cold weather don't get a Pinnacle. Both of the reels my friend brought on our trip to Ontario to fish Lakers lost their anti-reverse in the cold. At night in the cabin after they had warmed up they worked just fine. Next day on the ice; gone.

I have 3 of the deadbolts and i wouldnt trade them for anything. I personally havent had trouble in cold weather with mine when i use them ice fishing.

Do you have the Deadbolts DNF or the Deadbolt Limteds DLF? I have a Deadbolt DNF and really like it. Rock solid.

They are all DNF's. I was told that for the extra $$ you pay for the limiteds..you didnt gain much.

The only reason I'm exploring the concept is that I can get reconditioned Deadbolt Limiteds for $60.

That would probably be worth it. I know the DNF's i bought are normally $60 but i got all 3 on sale at different times for $50.

I've got a couple DNF30's and a bunch of ABU T500's. I will not use my DNF's, have had a lot of problems losing the anti-reverse and also had problems with the bail not closing all the way...real fun when you set the hook when you're rigging. If you want them, they're yours!!

What is your email address? I would definitely like them.

Eric-
I've gone through a couple DNFs, but have since given them away. I experienced the same problems as Perchboy.
I'm not trying to talk you out of anything (OK, maybe I am!), but doesn't it make you wonder why those Limiteds had to be reconditioned in the first place??
Regards
I've used Deadbolt Limiteds for years and they're terrific. Never, ever any problem in the cold.

I was looking for a new reel two weeks ago and was thinking of a pinnacle in the 60.00 to 100.00 range, but I stopped in and talked to a reel repair shop in Anoka, MN. The owner there told me the pinnacle reels are some of ones he gets in alot, something to do with a poor ball bearing setup. He does not sell highend reels so I trust his advice. I ended up buying the new Quantum TiMAG Response Ti RE2LTi so far so good 79.99 at Gander Mountain. Good Luck, "Fish On"

Amen, Perchboy is right on, I've had 3 deadbolts and all have had problems. Remember this is the company that was called Silstar - they're well known for making junk. And yes these reels are junk, buy a comparable Shimano for $60 bucks and it will last ten times longer. Save your money and buy something else.
