Hi,are there any good Smallmouth lakes or rivers in ia other than okaboji and sprit?
NE Iowa and East Central Iowa rivers and streams can all produce. You will have to wade. Start with the catch and release area for 5 miles below the dam at Delhi Iowa. It is fantastic. You can also get a book detailing all rivers and stream in Iowa at many tackle shops. The Cedar, Wapsipinicon, Macquketa, Upper Iowa, and their feeder stream all produce small mouth

Wade up the raccoon river past the panora Dam and you will find lot and lots of small mouth plus some walleye. Use worms or a #5 silver shad rap. Also try a small countdow rapala. Fish behind and cast into rapids.

The Wapsie between the dams in Independence and Quaskie has some good smallmouth holes if you sepnd a day floating and trying to find them. You're going to have to wait a month or so, the ##### river is about to come out of its banks for the third time in 13 months!

Down stream from the lake. Above the redfield dam. Around Linden. I don't know if you would need 2 cars. I'm only 16 so i haven't figured that out yet. I just have my dad drive and pick me up. Caught many a smallmouth. Also some flat heads. I live on panther creek road about a 1/2 mile from the creek and i fish that a lot and wade up it. I sure wish i had a boat though. I just bought a old 5 1/2 horse johnson sea horse motor, but now i need a john boat.

ditto to the others, have fished the Maquoketa, Wapsi, Cedar and Raccoon with great success, mainly using in-line spinners or crawdad colored crank baits, also large numbers of nice size fish on the Mississippi from Dubuque on north.
