FJH1, will the new Pro Glass St.Croix you mentioned fit in a 7' Rod Locker ? Thanks Again for answering my post I was getting a little worried that no one would respond!! Jim

I'm using 8'3" Browning Silaflex med/fast rods with Diawa 27's. I have mono on mine. Have used the Fireline for flatlining though, on someone else's boat. Those were 7' St. Croix Legends (hard to find now) med/fast with Diawa's. Not sure on the # test. FJH1 would know. I'm still trying to get my hands on a couple of those Legends!

Jim, I use the 10# test Fireline (4# diameter). The St. Croix 8' telescoping rod will fit in a 7' locker, I think if is about 6 1/2' when collapsed down. Avoid 2 piece rods if you are looking for new rods. I have found that they really get into a tangled mess in the locker. As Juls said in her first post, you should use mono backing on your Daiwa SG27 reel, fill it to within 1/4" of capacity, splice on the Fireline and fill the reel up. Nice thing about Fireline is that once you start to wear out the line you can reverse it on the reel. I take one reel, pull off the line in the backyard, take another reel and tie the used end of the Fireline to the mono on the first reel and reel the line from one reel to the other. I usually get at least two seasons out of a spool. Hope this helps.

Best Regards,

FJH
