I am switching to a dual axle trailer and need Pros and cons on either. I live on a dirt road and the paint on my trailer is chipping off. I tow a lot and want a trailer that will stand up to salt and stone chips. Thanks Rick H.

I'm thinking of replacing my triple axle trailer with an aluminum one. I'll probably fish the boat for another year and if I still like it, I'll go trailer hunting. Some builders use stainless bolts and others list it as an option. Pay attention to the fine print.

What about galvanized? Think there was a thread on those not long ago and several spoke highly including a comment from T-Mac. At least that's my recollection.
my first trailer was painted and started looking lousy before 1 season was over. my current trailer is galvanized and still looks new after two years.

I may be mistaken but I do not think I have ever seen an alluminum trailer. All of the silver, metal trailers I have ever seen have been galvanized. I do not think you could go wrong with galvanized myself.

If you are talking about a boat trailer, I would suggest either a galvanized trailer, a powder coated steel trailer, or an aluminum trailer - in that order.
The aluminum trailer, will be about 1/2 the weight of either of the steel trailers.
If you go with steel, have it powder coated. It will cost about $500 for powder coating, but it basically will make the trailer bullet and gravel proof.
