I was wondering if anyone could give me any suggestions as to a possible problem with my boat. I am not a mechanic so I wanted to see if you guys had any suggestions before I call the marina mechanics. I have a 23' bayliner with a Volvo engine. I normally run around 31 hundred RPM's but today, she wouldn't get over 24. I had her full throttle and she just kept bogging down. Every now and then I thought it was going to take off but it never did. I just had it tuned up in May and it worked fine the last time on the water (4 weeks ago). Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks Ryan

Any extra weight in the boat? Water in the bilge? Is the prop and hub free of weeds, fishing line?

I'd check for loose or cracked vacuum lines and check the fuel filter.

also check your coil. sometimes they go out. They run at lower rpm's but fail on the high end.

good luck....

Be sure to Check your exhaust system to ensure that it is not partially obstructed.

check your choke if is stickin just a little it will keep your rpms down , one way to tell if it's the choke is the exsaust black , also check your fuel for water.

Check the fuel filter, also check the sparkplug wires and the coil wire, if a plug wire is loose you could be missfiring or not firing at all on a cylinder which would cause this.

Are you a blonde, and is the trailer still attached? <grinnin', duckin', and runnin'>

In short, we are pretty sure it is something, so be sure to check everything.

I would also check fuel line. Could be plugged, worn or somehow pinched. :D
