I see advertized a Zercom colorpoint sno-pac with 7 amp bat and charger 150khz transducer self aligning transducer 600watts optical sensor for 179.97. Is that a good price (and good unit?) or should I pay more for the Vexilar?

Can you let me know where. I have one and it works great. Most people are buying the Vexlar these days, and a few are trying the Marcum. Zercom was sold to Humminbird, and support may be an issue. Not knowing what you plan to use the unit for makes it hard to make a recommendation, but my guess is that either the colorpoint, or an FL8 would be a good place to start. The FL18 is also a nice unit, but if you have not used an FL8 before you most likely would not miss the additional features that the FL18 offers.
I would be willing to add another colorpoint to my stash for $179. That way I the bum I fish with can stop stealing mine......

Dave, Its in the Sportman'sguide cat. (note that the 179.00 is for preferred members,..which I think is around 20 dollars a year,..for non members its 199.00 so "if" you want to get anything else from them,..you save that on the order. You generally have to act fast on this company,..often I have tried to order to find out the limited quanities are gone,..as of yeserday they still had them cause I ordered one.

The zercom is a very good unit it works almost as good as the vexilars but the colors aren't as defined and as accurate. But very close!

Good to know, I have read the vexilar and Zercom wars of the past but ar that price I had to try one.
Do yourself a favor and get a Vexilar! What happens if you get a zercom and have problems? no warranty, no service! Get the Vexilar, no headaches, great service if you have questions or problems!

I have two of the original zercom's. They are o.k. if your life doesn't depend on them. half of the time they get moisture inside, freeze up requiring me to hit the face plate to get it moving etc. The best flasher I have ever had has been my old Eagle silent sixty. I'd go with the vexi.
Something is fishy around here.
