Hi guys, I recently aquired an X70A. It is in good shape and not used very much. I want a really good unit to put on my boat that will have great detail and power so I can pick up fish right on the bottom and hopefully baitfish and do it rather instantaniously. My question is this: Is this a good unit for that, how many pixels does it have, how many watts? About how old are X70A's? Anybody that have them like them? I want a unit that will make nice arcs, my current one does not cut it, but my buddies 85 is really good for that. I fish a lot and want a very good unit, if you guys tell me that an x15 or something else is much better I will wait and buy that, but this was free. Any experts out there?

I have one, its the same unit as the LMS350A without the GPS. I picked one up on ebay last spring and put it on my bowmount. Its a good unit, older, but good.

I have a x70-a and when i sell my boat its goin with me i trust it soo much.It marks arches great and is by far the best depth finder ive ever owned.I believe they quit makeing them about 5 years ago,not sure how many vertical pixels they have but believe they put out about 4000watts of power. This is off the top of my head so i may be wrong, all i know is it is a great unit and im sure you'll like it.TightLines,Kdog

The X-70A is a very good unit and will work fine for you. As far as picking up fish on the bottom most liquid crystal will not pick fish up right on the bottom. If you are looking for a unit to do that, a CRT unit is better like a Genetron or a Si-Tex 106. CRT respond faster the liquid crystal and for the most part are more accurate. The down side is they use more power and in the case of the Si-Tex they are not water proof. You will like the X-70 and I wish they would have never dicontinued it.........

what about seeing schools of baitfish? Can this unit do it?

Easily. I can see my 1/2 oz jig with it.
