Much as I adore all you people from Wisconsin, Ohio, Michigan, Pa., Colorado, Canada, etc. I sometimes feel rather isolated here. Where the heck are all the New Yorkers?????? I met a couple of nice people one night in the WC chat. One went by the handle Adirondacker and the other was a woman who's handle I can't remember but she also
was from upstate N.Y. but I haven't seen either of
them since then. It would be nice to talk to someone from my own state about fishing... Anyone out there???? If so, either email me or reply here, or look for me in the chat. Thanks.

Do you upstate people consider NYC part of the state yet? I've been sitting here also wondering where all the new york fishingpersons (desprite attemp to be PC) where hiding. Since this is the best place to fish you would figure you'd see more of them here. Ill always be here for ya Ness. drop me a line sometime if your ever coming down to the big arm pit.

Hey Fisherperson Ness, the Buckeyes will talk to ya even if you are from New York ;-), and the tactics and equipment usually work the same no matter where yer at....except maybe Brooklyn!!!!

I live in PA but do almost all of my fishing in NY, some up in ScottCNY's area. Sluggo is another famous NY fisherman who visits this board frequently and Gilligan is in my position (lives in PA but fishes in NY).

I love New York! It is, by far, the best kept secret for those of us who know it well. New York can challenge any other region in the country for variety, quantity and quality of fish species. On any given weekend we can go stream fishing for brookies, lunker hunting for musky and salmon, trolling or jigging for walleye, spoon-casting for pike or float fishing for big perch or bluegill. Furthermore, the parks system on the St. Lawrence River gives us great access to some of the best walleye, musky and bass fishing on earth. Two of my favorite spots are Hemlock Lake and Canadice Lake where the absence of shoreline cottages and the size limit on boat length and motor hp make it seem like a wilderness. If this sounds like unabashed promotion, it is. New York is a great place to fish. It's just a tough place to live.

Hi Ness..I still visit here on a regular basis. I've been pretty busy here for the last couple of weeks with our walleye season having just closed yesterday. Had to stock the freezer! My wife says I'm already starting to show withdrawal signs! Next month we'll drag the boat to Port Clinton so we can get a "fix"..only an eight hour haul. Good Fishing, Sluggo

Hi Ness.
I also am from NY in the Oneida Lake area. I live in Lakepeort and do put my time in on this Lake for the most part.

I visit this site every day even just to read all the posts.

Ice is going out and Docks going in soon for the Bullheads. Walleyes were running up the creeks last 2 weekends , had to be there at the right time.

Drop me a Line any time you want to chat fishing,

JIM

Hey Ness, I live and work 20 miles south of Buffalo. Great area for Erie, chataqua(sp), and the little finger lakes to the east. Just bought a new old boat and am gettin itchy as we speak. I've been a smallmouth fisher(pc) all my life but two years ago I met salmon and last year steelhead. The best walleye I ever caught was a 12.5 Canadian black and gold beauty that still maybe there. Tight lines and e.mail if you wish Mike in East Aurora N.Y. ps. NYC is it's own country!

Ness,
I'm from Owego N.Y. along the Susquehanna
river. I fish for walleye's all over the state.
If you or any other of the posts are interested in fishing tournaments, we hold Team Walleye
U.S.F.A. Tournaments through out the state. There's a great bunch of fisherman who fish this tournament trail and it's a great time to learn & enjoy walleye fishing. E-mail me any time to talk fishing. Bullet

Ness, I recently moved from Honeoye Lake. There is a great walleye fishery in both Honeoye and Coneseus lakes.Irondequoit Bay is also a fall hot spot. I try to fish between 150 and 200 days a year so if the 'eyes are there, so is the eyedoktr.

HEY NESS, MOST PEOPLE IN UPPER NY WISH NYC WAS IN ANOTHER STATE. WHERE IN NY DO YOU LIVE?I FISH ONEIDA ALOT AND LIVE IN SYRACUSE.ONEIDA IS GETTING VERY HARD TO GET WALLEYES AND NEXT YEAR THE SIZE HAS TO BE 18INCHES NOT 15INCHES AND ONLY 3 FISH CAN BE TAKEN AND NOT 5 FISH .THE STOCKING PROGRAM IS NOT KEEPING UP. NICE TO SEE NYERS RESPOND ON WC

Well, looks like quite a few Walleye Central east division people. I live in Pa but only reason I even have Pa license is because I guide here for trout. When I'm fishing on my own it's NY state. I fish mostly Chautauqua and Erie out of Barcelona. It's 105 miles to Chautauqua and 125 to Erie.. one way. I've done many 24 hr excursions, leave at 2am and by 2am next morning be crawling into bed from previous days fishing. I (and my insurance company)wish you New Yorkers could shoot a little straighter though, I'm tired of chasing deer off the road with the pickup at 3am!

Hey Ness. Just "dropping a line" to let you know I lived in the infamous "upstate NY" Voorheesville to be specific (before I had to move to Florida). It's a fabulous, totally under-developed and under-fished state with so many fantastic pristine lakes...! I'd say Minnesotans would be so so jealous if they ever ever went there!!!

I know you talked once of moving Ness, but don't. The beauty of NY is that the rest of the world has no idea how cool, unpopulated, and what a loaded natural resource state [not to mention how big it is] state. Funny thing is you when you say you're from NY. The majority of everyone always thinks of the Big Apple, not knowing how big or how many lakes and forests the entire State is!!!! Go girl!

Hi Ness,
Live in Jersey, fish in New York! Fishin is good in Jersey but to crowded sometimes. When I want to go away I fish Lake Ontario, Onieda, Great Sagandaga, 1000 Islands, Greenwood Lake, and will now start fishing on Lake Erie out of Barcelona. 1st. trip there will be Memorial Day week. Can't wait! With all the good walleye fishin going on there it seems there might be one for me. If the eastern guys and gals keep showing up we might need an eastern chapter of walleye central soon! It's true " I LOVE NEW YORK"!!!!!!

Hey, Sheila.... There's so many lakes here for me to try that I certainly can't move until I check them all out. However, the outcome of the Blonde
Witch Project, really concerns me... This state could go downhill real fast. I don't think SHE
fishes... :-)

Now that we've established the fact that other people besides me are fishing this state...:-)
How about telling me where you've had the best luck in this state with Eyes... Please...

Ness, 30-45 minutes south of Rochester are 2 lakes with very healthy populations of walleyes.Honeoye Lake has alot of 1-3 pounders with larger ones (to 7#)not uncommon.Ice fishing generally gives up a couple 8-9#. Conesus Lake has (according to the DEC) state records swimming in it.The next week or two will produce an unbelievable scene. Walleye gather to spawn in man made trenches at the south end of Conesus Lake. You swear you could walk across the backs of 10-15# fish from one side to the other. Hope this helps.

Ness,
I live in the upstate, Dexter to be exact. I fish Black river bay and the 1000 islands area primarily. I get about 5 days a week on the Black river bay for the first few weeks of the season. Drop me a line if you ever get up this way. I'm no expert but do put my time in on the water.

Good Fishin'

Chautauqua, Erie east basin, Lake Ontario. Chautauqua summer weed edge jig bite is fun. Lots of agressive fish(unless the brainless lake ***-ociation is cutting the weeds)Erie bite can be awesome, especially when Ohio's fish migrate in. Seen when there aren't enough hands to reel in fish. My fish there averaged 7 # last year. Ontario... getting ready to set the new NY State record, right in your backyard, Ness! :7
