PETA wackmobiles at it again! Had to share this!

GREEN BAY , Wis., Updated 11:34 p.m. EDT June 26, 2000 -- People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals has asked the Green Bay Packers to change their team name.

In a letter to team President Bob Harlan, PETA said that the name Packers promotes "violence and bloodshed" because it refers to meat packers.

"Calling the team the Packers sends a dangerous, unhealthy message to sports fans," PETA wrote.

After discussing medical claims against a diet that includes meat, PETA continued to denounce the team name saying that the meat packing profession does not elicit pride therefore the team chose not to be called the "Animal Killers."

Ever been in a meat packing plant? Cold air in the freezer and refrigerated rooms can chill you and make you sick if you don't wear long johns. Also, if you are not careful one of those beautiful, marbled, sides of beef could fall off the meat hook and injure you. But the real loss would be if the meat inspector condemned the carcass because it fell on the floor. Aaahhhhhhhhgh!!!!! Makes want to cry just thinking about it!
PETA people should go do something the animals will really appreciate....like hug a grizzly. Think Harlan will take their demand under consideration for more time than it takes to toss the letter in the garbage can?

PETA is a perfect example of a social disease we have in our society these days! There are entirely too many people with too much time on their hands, making too much money, sitting around trying to find a way to make a name for themselves and "impress" the rest of us!!!

Actually, I think this is great news, just like their move against milk. The more stupid things PETA does the more the average Joe realizes what a fanatic fringe group they are and writes them off.

Worked in a meat plant when I was in school and currently feeding some cattle but only a wannabe butcher...... just after deer season. My buddies think my animal science degree qualifies me to cut up their venison. Been known to fillet a fish or 2........

I read in the paper that PETA also wanted the Packers to change their name to the Green bay Pickers, which would interpreted as being vegetarians....saw a bumper sticker I liked,
"I didn't claw my way to the top of the food chain to eat vegetables!"

Amen to that!! Sadly, though, it is unfortunate that it is TOO TRUE!!!! Just look what we have in Washington!!!!

And as a result of what we have in Washington we have stupid groups like this given free rein and tax payer dollars to tout their idiocy. On top of that the media placates these groups - which says alot about the intelligence of the editorial staffs'!!!

2 comments. I think I like your bumpersticker but my favorite is still the one I saw last fall. It said "Do you worship animals or do you worship God?"
Also, the "balanced" mix of veggies I have in my diet gives me gas. I'd hate to think about how bad it would be if that was all I ate. I think I'd stay upwind of any PETA rally!

you gotta wonder if these wackos might just have a little too much time on their hands!!! i am a veterinarian and many of my clients probably are sympathetic to peta...little do they realize that peta is for removing all pets from people!!! they believe pets have equal rights vs people and as such should not be owned...its in their constitution or statement of beliefs....i have to deal with these people from time to time and they really are a trip....not with reality....most are probably ex 60's hippies who lost their minds on acid or some such thing....just my two cents
