3 Things that can cause it reeling when the drag is going out or reeling with no line coming in,always use a swivel when casting or pulling spinners .or using those reusable split shot with the 2 little nubs on the back side that are pinched togeter to remove from your line in any current they just spin twisting your line up , plus spooling it on wrong .I guess that 4 and i'm sure theres more but these are the main ones ive run into.

To summarize Oddball, there's 1 thing that causes line twist on any and all spinning reels--reeling!
Try different lines until you find one you like. Personally, I use Fireline 6/2 and have never had problems with line twists. I originally spooled the Fireline on the backup spool, but now I never use the spool with mono.
The other thing to try if you cast a lot (which accelerates the line twist) is to occasionally let all the line out of the reel while trolling (no bait/hook/swivel/nothing attached--just bare line), then reel it back in slowly while maintaining pressure.
I'll make it even simpler. Deadbolt reels just twist line real bad. I had one that I loved, but didn't dare cast jigs with it, or I'd have to respool half way through the day because of the knots from the line twist. I have no idea why these reels twist the line so bad, but I've talked to others who used the dnf 30 for casting jigs and cranks who had the same problem. I went back to using a symetre for pitching jigs, and not a problem since.
Anyone else out there notice this? Maybe the roller is too small?

I'm not sure about the cause for the twist, but a great way to make sure the line is on straight is to let all (or most) of the line out with nothing on it as you're trolling along. Then reel it in and the line will be about as straight as possible. I usually do this every time i put new line on in case i did it backwards. I also do it every few times out if the line is beginning to twist.

You may want to try tangle free a pink liquid from Wal-Mart. In some cases it works wonders.

I think it may be the reel. Most big sporting goods stores are giving you credit towards another reel if you bring in your pinnacle.
