I was in ????? today and they had chart and siler shads in stock!! They were a little funny looking, but i still managed to force myself to buy a couple or ten... When i got home i compared them to the old ones... The new ones are moes silver metalic looking rather than the white sided of the old ones. Does any one else know if this is a one time run or are they back for good? tight lines all, Doc

I think you may have misinterpretted the info of the shad raps that are being discontinued. I believe it is the black/gold and black/silver metalic finished lures that are being discontinued. The lure that you described sounds like rapala's version of the clown pattern. It does not compare to the old chartruese/white pattern for stained or dirty water. The way to look at lure patterns for walleye starts by looking at the belly. Walleyes like most fish attack from below when chasing minnow baits. Rapala seems to be loosing touch with the fisherman and their tactics of scaring people into buying lures by discontinueing certain patterns or types will hurt them in the long run because there are alot of other companies out there that are more in touch with the needs of todays fisherman. We don't need the marketing tactics that rapala has chosen to empty their shelves.

No... It's not the clown pattern. It's the old chartreuse and white. Are they making them again? Or do I need to buy what's there? doc

Doc,
Yes, they are the chart./white color, I picked up some yesterday. They also have the pearl white color. According to the salesman, they only got a small quantity available, so they may be hard to find, at least this year. I bought the #7,8, & 9's for $5.99 each. The pearl whites were higher, I believe up to $8.00 for the bigger size. I hope this isn't just a "supply & demand" market for Rapala in order to keep the price up, but it sure looks like it.
Take care,
Brad

Yes Doc the chartruese and white is back to stay. Enough people requested it's return and as a profit motivated company Rapala saw that the numbers added up. You should see the new baits coming from Rapala/Storm this year! Watch for exciting announcments from ICAST in July this year.

Buy every one you can find of the Chart. and Pearl. They are hard to find and are really productive. In our area they are next to impossible to find.

Are you a rep
If so tell them to bring back the old blue/white Shad Rap this was the best walleye bait ever until they quit making it.
I do not think the old man would be very proud of the way Brad is taking the buisness. It used to be by fisherman for fisherman.
Now it only for almighty dollar.
Ask Harley Davidson Quality and service sells it's self.
We love Rapala's but quit chageing them every other year.

Hah!!!!!!!!
Exciting announcements + b*** s*** = inflated price. These suckers could be brought to their knees if everyone would blackball 'em for one month. Ever since it became cool to never admit you can't afford something the manufacturers in this country have inserted a ring through our noses and a pointy shaft somewhere else!
Richard, is Normark shipping these (Chartreuse/White Shad Raps) out nation-wide or just to select areas? I ask this because for the most part the Pearl and Flourescent Red/Gold really only seem to be available in Minnesota and Canada. If this is going to be the case with Chart/White I'll start hunting, otherwise I'll wait. Also, I agree with the post about Blue/White, I'd really like to see this come back.
Best Regards,
FJH1
Bring back the blue/ chart/ orange and glitter junior storm thunderstick!!!! Where can I get several of these baits?

I have never seen the Chartruese and white Raps, are they really that more effective? Are they primarily an option for off-colored water?

They are back! Purchased "several" of them at the local Scheels store. I'm soooo happy! Also had the white and orange shadraps(at $9.00 a crack!). New baby bass pattern as well. Now if they would just reintroduce the bluebacks...
I can get the new chart/white here in SD also, the places that have them have lots of them.

Normark / Rapala is no longer a family owned company. When you're a publicly held company there are shareholders to satisfy and a bottom line to answer for. This has been the root of the changes we have seen over the last year. As far as the colors go, anything that wasn't holding up its sales numbers was discontinued. It took a lot interest to get back the Chart/white and maybe the same can be done for the old blue. I miss this color also. The same goes for the Storm line, where because of the incredible variety of colors available the cut back will be felt even harder. It is the old story of supply and demand, drop them a line at the web site. While your there check out the new Tail Dancer, first balsa bait with rattles. I have one of these that I'll be trying at Saginaw Bay next week.

richard . funny you should mention that. i am a tackle dealer and have been told the storm is being sold off by normark. and that ron smart and the other guys who left you are starting up their own line( possibly storm)? why doesn't normark tell us what's going on instead of leving us in the rumopur mill to guess? it makes buying for next eyar extrememly difficult. my opinion is you guys disconitiue colors until guys holler so loud you can look like heroes bringing them back at much inflated prices! fishing should simply not be that expensive that we have to charge 8 and 9 dollars for a lure!

Hey I don't know how I became one of the villainous "them" you all despise so much. I am very simply a fisherman sponsored by Normark who answered a question. Considering the new Storm lures and product I've seen that will be announced at ICAST in Chicago I wouldn't bet on Storm being sold. I agree that lures shouldn't be that expensive but gas shouldn't be over $2.00 a gallon either.

Why would NORMARK's marketing tactics surprise anybody? Some of Storms colors that Normark decided to keep are a joke. Would Anybody expect anything different from fat *** golfers calling the shots with their MBA's and their Cadillac Escalades??? Betcha those Mexicans that earn 25 cents an hour assembling Hot-n-Tots are not happy with the cut backs either.

The orange and the white shad raps are Canadian colors/ quite expensive to get them into U.S. The best price I've found them is $8.00 at Dome Bait in Clear Lake IA.
