Does anyone know who brought out Impulse? I have a 2800PLUS which works fine but the power cable flew apart on me this weekend past. I thought an electronics firm in Texas had the rights. Thanks in advance.

Uniden bought Impulse a long time ago...don't know if anything has happened since. I think they moved their customer service from Indianapolis to Houston, also a long time ago.

Here is Impulse's web site. Uniden does own them and from what I have seen, most of the Uniden fish finder and positioning electronics is Impulse technology relabeled. Good stuff but "borrowed" :-).

They should be able to fix you up without any problems. If you have any difficulties, email me (gilbertr@pilot.msu.edu). I work closely with a local marine store that does a lot of business with them and can probably get what you need.

BTW -- In checking my Impulse manual the power cord on the 28XX series is a two pole female mike cord style connection (Impulse part #703-021). Most decent radio/electronics stores carry them for less than $5 -- no not Radio Shack. A replacement plug plus solder and some wire and you're back in business!

Position the cord so you're facing the end of the plug toward you with the allignment notch facing up. The positive lead from the battery (red) should be connected to the left pin and the negitive/ground (black) lead should go to the right pin. The positive line should also have an inline 1 amp fuse.

I sent e-mail to Impulse Tech. from their website and it came back as undeliverable mail. Haven't tried them since.
