View Full Version : Jig Paint/technique
Any information on the best paint type to use for painting jigs would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
I prefer using the "powder" paint, where you heat the jig lead-head and dip it into the powdery paint which melts and coats the head. This is quick, easy and fast drying. You can do allot of jigs in short period of time.

They don't paint the any more, I use the powder coat paint put on with a heat gun. Use the "search" in the Achives to find the info you need.

I agree with the other posts that the powder paints are the way to go to paint jigs. After painting the jigs make sure you place them in the oven per directions to get a hard glasslike finish on the jigs.

Make sure you clean the paint out of the eyes before you place in oven.
I hold the jig by the hook eye in a small pair of needle nose pliers. Dip in the powder, and hold in a torch for a few seconds. The plier jaws keeps the powder from getting into the eye, so you don't have to clean it out. You do have to clean the pliers occasionally, but it's easier than getting it out of the eyes.
