You are a hunter. You want to hunt small game today and think it would be a good day to hunt for squirrels. It is December 15th and you are driving through the countryside and notice a nice little wooded area about ten acres large and you are sure there will be squirrels in there.
1) What direction would be the best
to enter the woods from?
2) Why?

Leave answers on here.Good Luck!!!!
Will leave answer here December 15th 2002

First today isn't the 15th. Direction: from the farmers yard. Why: Cuz I just asked for and recieved permission to hunt his shelterbelt. :)

That is the only logic you need to know. Talk to the land owner. Chances are he will give you the skinny on the hunting in the area.

because december 15th is a Sunday, perhaps you are in a state or county that does not permit hunting on Sunday & you must wait until Monday!!!

here's another question. Is small game season still on in your state as of December 15th?

Assuming it is safe day to hunt and owners house is safe distance from woods. After getting permission approach from down wind side to minimize noise and scent of your presence.

I would scope out the wood lot and approach it from the direction that was the most open so as to make the least amount of noise.

If its hasn't been hunted lately you'll get easy pickings at first. I would walk in towards the thickest side as to keep a screen twixt you and those sharp eye'd critters.

After they have been hunted I would go in before first light when they are still sleeping. That first (and last) light hunt is the best.

I climb trees for a living, (clear branches from electric lines), and work year around. When your in a tree looking down you can easily spot anything that moves no matter how thick the cover especially when the leaves are gone. You'll need to either get there early and take a stand or still hunt very, very, slowly this time of year. Approach from the open so you won't make noise. Make noise and you'll be spotted, cover or not. Although squirrels are'nt known for their sense of smell, I assume they can smell at least as well as a human. I've smelled cigars clear across a residental block when up a tree. Ever since then I stopped using cigars as 'skeeter chasers when I hunted squirrels. I could be wrong but I don't think they smell well enough to detect human scent. I never worried to much about wind direction but noise and movement need to be kept to an absolute minimum.

By December 15th, this thing will be on page 38.

Logically, what I am sure of and what I think are irrelevant. Knowing:
I am a hunter
I want to hunt small game today
It is December 15th
I am driving through the countryside
I notice a 10 acre wooded area

I am to deduce from which direction to enter the woods. Off the top of my head my choices can be:
Absolute and reasonable (a compass direction)
Absolute and unreasonable (from above…)
Relative (from the landowners door…)
Abstract (from the outside…)
Zen (I am the woods)
It doesn’t matter

My Answer: Not enough information. (For my feeble mind…)

I think this is a trivia question, not a logic question, and am quite sure I have no idea. So, where are the squirrel experts? Perhaps squirrels celebrate their sun god on December 15th and will only show themselves on the south side? Maybe they won’t come out of their homes on December 15th so it won’t matter?
