Please attend the DNR meeting on April 10th
held in every county in our great State.
I do not no if everybody know's this or not but last year an anti hunter was voted into the Dane county board because there were more anti hunters there than sportspersons.
They are sending out flyiers with false info on them and tring to get a better foot hold into the conservation congress.
If you like to Hunt or Fish or you would like your children to have the chance to hunt or fish please go to theses meetings.
We need your help.

I agree Schmitty!!

If we don't stand up for ourselves we won't have anything to stand up for before too long. I'm going and I'm telling as many people as I can about them.

Hey Scmitty,

Straight on the point!

Gang, get off your behinds and go to the meetings, and stay to the end!!

Last year, some of the Anti wacko's bogged down the meeting, deliberately, to make it run REEEEEEAAAALLLLYY LOOOOOOOONG. Most of the sportsmen, actually having jobs, had to leave to get some sleep.

Then the anti's allowed the meeting to progress to hold the vote and they voted in a card carrying certified, Dirt Munching, Tree Hugging Tofu lover. This Anti wacko now has a say in how YOU hunt and fish.

Go to the meetings and stay late!

E Mail your congressmen, Senators, Governor, Local DNR Office, The DNR in Madison and anyone else you can think of that will even remotely have anything to do with the conservation workings in your area.

The biggest problem with our peers is blatant laziness!! The thought that someone else will do the work for them is too Prevalent nowadays. If you want to keep hunting and fishing, get off your behind and get involved, otherwise this may end up being, "Watching the Trailer Rust Central"

Were all in this together......R

This is a very important issue that we all need to address and do our part to contribute to.

This year the meetings have changed. The elections to the Conservation Congress will be the first issue addressed. The meetings start at 7:00PM and the elections will take place before anything else. You will need to verify that you reside in the County in order to vote for Conservation Congress delegates. This can be done with a drivers license, WI picture ID, or a current utility bill. The anti hunting and anti fishing folks are well organized and will be out in force. Please attend the meetings to protect our rights of hunting and fishing that we all love dearly. Tell everyone you know to attend at least long enough to cast thier vote for the delegates!

I plan on going, but where can I find a list of the conservation congress delegates that are the ones to vote for (Racine County)? When in doubt no one will get my vote, but I'd hate to waste the vote just for not knowing the the views of the right delegate.

I cannot attend this years meetings. Somebody PLEASE, make the motion to the congress that only licensed Anglers and Hunters from that cvounty be the ONLY one's allowed to vote.
By doing this we would at least be forcing the F*^%$n tree huggers to buy a license.
Thank you

Yes, Yes everyone should go and vote on the issues. I don't want to tell everyone how to vote but one of the issues your voting on is to move appointment of DNR Secratary from the governer to the Conservation Congress. This is good thing and please vote for it. Our special interest governer only appoints people that meets will better his own interests. If it were up to Tommy our state would be giant cespool of mines and power lines. The conservation congress usually makes appointees who will further OUR interests as Sportsmen/women.

I don't want to burst your bubble Aldo, but the Conservation Congress is an advisory group only. Even the County Delegates are powerless to rescind Thompson's appointments. They also have no power to change state fish and game laws. They serve mainly as a lobbying group for the state's hunters and anglers and they do a fine job of that.

The best reason to get out and vote has already been stated--If we don't show up, the anti's will take over our only grass-roots lobbying group. But don't be fooled into thinking you are creating state law--only the State Legislature can do that. The CC Hearings are no substitute for regularly contacting your State Representatives. Go to the CC hearings and vote. Then call your elected officials and let them know how you feel.

Just found this on the lake link board.
Hope it helps.

You can find all the information about the hearings including the questions and the candidates at www.dnr.state.wi.us/ Click on "About the DNR" then click "Spring rules hearings 2000" The meeting moves right along because there is a lot to cover and its a weeknite. In my county the same delegates get reelected , seldom is there any opposition. That could change this year, you should at least know who your representatives are so you can tell the good guys from the ringers.

Don't be so sure. I used to work for the DNR here in Wisconsin, and know for a fact that the opinions expressed and the votes go a long way in the law making and decision making in the DNR. Although the votes themselves are not law, they almost always either become law, or the the laws made and changed closely resemble the votes and opinions of sportsmen and women.
