View Full Version : MinnKota w/universal sonar
I purchased a bow mounted trolling motor w/universal sonar late last summer, but have not mounted a front fishfinder yet. For those using the MinnKota's with universal sonar, what has been your experience?

They work good but there is a pronounced snapping noise that comes up the shaft from the transducer. No noticeable loss of signal on my X-85.
Good fishing!

This is interesting that a tranducer optimized for 200KHz works well for you at 192 kHz. I am considering doing the opposite, using a 192kHz Lowrance ducer on an LMS-240 on the bow. Glad to hear it works.

I love it. Just finished my first full year with the LCX-15MT (w/gps) / MinnKota AP combo. No problems with the transducer even after multiple whacks in shallow water. If I want to use my GPS while the trolling motor is stowed, I always unhook the transducer cable using the quick-connects that came with the unit. If you don't, the transducer will continue to click away. I don't know if it would harm the unit to keep it turned on, but I don't take the chance.

I have an MinnKota Autopilot with U/S, and its ok. When it use the foot-pedal I get interference on my X15MT.
I have a Ram-mount ball on the console and another ball on the bow. I have a 2nd power cable running to the bow as well. My fiance doesn't use the finder, so I move it from the console to the bow for myself, as I move about.
