Wondering if anybody here has anything that really works to keep mice out of ice shacks......boats...ect. during the off months of the season. Last spring I loaded up my ice shack with mouse poison and moth balls. The mice got in, ate the mouse bait, chewed on the moth balls, deficated the mouse bait, and chewed a nice big hole in my tarp on there way out! One tough mouse I guess. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I put sheets of Bounce fabric softener, in all the hatches and lay some sheets on the floor of the boat also, seems to work so far.

had mice this summer in garage where i keep my new..used one time...otterskin...was worried the mice did damage...took it out last wed just in my driveway to see if any damage...no mice damage but found about 500 small white maggots with a cocoon around them that looked like a spider web...they were about 1/4 the size of a waxworm...i collected 200 or so and broomed the rest off...wonder what they are and if they are good for gills...will try as soon as i get brave enough..tomorrow it will be in the 50's so i wont be trying then..steve heckler

Many of the farmers put Irish Spring soap in their tractors and farm equipment...When we closed our seasonal trailer up we did the same...we shall see if it works when we open next spring and it also smells much better than moth balls.

I use bounce fabric softener just like Speedy. It has worked for me. A local RV salesman suggested it several years ago.

About the only way to keep them out of things is to store said items off the floor like one or two feet maybe. I keep my portable(canvas)shanty on a makeshift rack in the shed and have never had vermin problems, and there are a lot of critters here. Also, keep a cat or two around extra measure.

I live out in the country and what works the best here is the neighbors Cats. Also helps with Chipmunks,Gophers and Red Squirrels.Just got done helping my buddy put in new bilge pumps after the Squirrels filled the bottom of his boat with pine cones, the chips from the cones broke the impellers off the pumps.

At the risk of being repetetive, I had a earlier post stating that after checking my boat after a month of recent storage I discovered a
deceased mouse( died of poison ) using a bounce sheet as a nest mattress.

try Decon, put a few boxes around and you will kill generations of mice.

When I store my fifth wheel camper I simply take two boxes of moth balls and sprinkle it around my camper. The stench will drive anything away. I have also heard good things about the Irish Spring idea as well.
