A friend of mine got a call at work yesterday just before we left. Her uncle dropped dead of a heart attack on Christmas Eve. Unexpected.

Two other friends have parents in intensive care, one from a stroke, one from a brain tumor.

Today, if my father had not gone to the otherside four years ago, he would have had another birthday. I never had any biological children. They both died during pregnancy. I missed dad and them last night at Christmas Eve service, so I lit a candle.

I wanted to share those things so people who read them who might be tired of the stress of the holidays could remember the reason for the season. Perhaps they will hug their kids or their parents a little tighter and a little longer today and be grateful to have them to share the day.

When life seems troubled, when I get caught up in my own little dramas, I remember how fortunate I was to have a father like he was, how fortunate I am to have a mom like the one I do, and others in my life who care.

I've received the greatest gift in life. Love.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life."

That's what Christmas is about for me.

Merry Christmas to all. To those of other faiths, happy holidays. Peach on earth, goodwill toward men.

Thank you for sharing that with us
it was both sadening and enlightening
sometimes we forget the Good Lord put us on this earth and gave us all the wonderful things we have and enjoy

my parents have both passed away and I miss them dearly, but I rejoice in my faith knowing that they are together again and in heaven with our Lord

love is one of the greatest things we enjoy
we recieve love from family and friends
we can give love to all who cross our paths in life
it costs nothing to give or recieve love
anyone can give and recieve love
and if only more people would, then the world would be a better place for us all

Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year

Bob
