I don't know where you live, but there is a great mail order rod building place in Marine on the St Croix, Minnesota, Wild River Distributing, call 1-888-433-2624, great prices, very helpful. Rod building is a great pastime here in the winter months of Minnesota

I need to replace a middle guide on a casting rod. Do any of you guys know of a website that gives detailed instructions on removal and replacement of the guide? Thanks in advance for any help you can send my way.

To remove a broken guide: carefully .... very carefully, heat the epoxy with a hair dryer or similar heat source. Do not use a flame. The epoxy will soften enough so you can scrape it off with a plastic credit card or popcicle stick. You may have to use a razor blade to cut the threads along the guide foot.
Get a guide that matches the broken one, hone the foot to transition the thread from the blank to the foot, re-wrap with nylon thead, coat with at least 2 coats rod epoxy, the rotate until dry.
If all of this is too difficult or you do not have the parts/tools, locate a local rod builder, he/she likely will be able to help you out.

Kris, Thanks for the information. I'm just trying to re-cycle an older favorite rod that I haven't used in several years. I'll give it a try and appreciate you responding.
Kris is right on.
In addition to Krises comment on cutting the thread after heating it; use the razor blade - first only on the guide side of the blank. That way, you can safely cut through the thread and epoxy without cutting into the blank. If you heat the epoxy, and then cut - only on the guide side, you can then peel the heated and thread off the rest of the blank, without further cutting.
Per Krises, comment; I then heat the rest of the finish, and use the razor blade in a perpendicular fashion to the blank, to "scrape" off the rest of the finish in the guide area. Don't cut, simply scrape. You will leave no cuts in the blank by doing this.
Take care

Try Jann's Netcraft - They have all the stuff you need, you can also try Barlow's- they carry pretty much the same stuff as Netcraft. You should be able to find them on the web pretty easy.
