I have a Sylvan aluminum boat that has been a good boat. 10 years old no leaks. I have pulled this boat to Canada 12 times over rough roads and still no leaks. Do you have a good solid trailer?Just a suggestion, try proof reading your posts.

I had '95 and '97 17-foot Sylvan Pro Selects. I had very good luck with them, few problems. I ran them in probably 8 states and Canada, fished a couple hundred days out of them. Sylvan is no Ranger, but for the money, it's a good buy and a solid boat.

I personally don't own a Sylvan, but my father-in-law does and he loves his. I fish out of it all the time. He had a 97 Pro select, but this year he got a 2000 Excursion 1900. He's had nothing but good luck with both and will never buy another brand.

Good luck.

The problem may be that sylvan is primarily an aluminum boat builder, and they may not have the skill in building fiberglass boats. Try to directly contact the manufacturer:in a nice, but very direct way express your concerns, try to make a deal...good luck...always research before you buy...

If the dealer won't cover the repair, call your insurance agent.

I've been running 19'-20' Sylvan boats since 1995 , had a few problems along the way but Doug Smoker was exellent to work with and I always walked away with a smile, prior to 95' I ran Lunds
I still feel I get more boat with less money going with Sylvan, I like Lund boats but I feel they are over priced. Simple economics... Try calling the factory or your dealer, Sylvan has a good warrantee on their hulls.

Ditto on insurance! You must hit SOMETHING...

Check with the builders at Sylvan to see if they will cover it. Being new to the glass market, all the bugs may not be worked out yet. I own a 16'4" Backtroller for 11 years and she still floats just fine. It is a 1983 model and shows mega wear on the paint job! My father has a 19' Eliminator and he likes it very much. Very roomy and alot of boat for the buck. Hope it works out for you. Keep catching fish with teeth!
