View Full Version : Battery compartment corrosion
I just checked my batteries and found that the paint inside my battery compartment is bubbling. I do have an onboard charger in the compartment also. I open the lid while charging. What is causing this and what can I do to prevent.this? Is there a special paint that I should use when I sand and repaint this area? Thanks.
One thing that could help -
1. Make sure that the battery compartments are very clean. If you haven't taken the batteries out in a while -- remove them --- rinse the compartments well with a soda solution to neturalize any battery acid and then rinse well with clean water.
2. When charging - keep the lids open -- and if you really want to keep things looking nice -- use a muffin fan or a small clamp on AC fan -- to keep the air moving in the battery compartment. This will keep any acid build up from accumulating in the battery compartment.
3. Finally - on a periodic basis - spray the battery compartment down with a soda solution to neturalize any battery acid or spray that might have accumulated from the battery charging.
Take care
