Anyone out there with one of these units? I was in a boat with one last weekend and really liked it. How do you like them? Are they reliable, trouble free operating units? Where is the best place to buy one through UPs/Mail?
Thanks
Scott

Love mine, make sure you get the c-maps and map cartridge option they have better detail than Lowrance maps.Good Luck

The boat owner who had the one I fished out of said the same thing. He said get the C Maps, they have the most detail. I saw that when I looked at it. It was quite nice. That's been the biggest attraction to me.
Has the reliablility , mechanically or should I say electrically been good? I don't want a unit that breaks down all the time and I need to send back. Service is nice, but no need for service is best.

I have had the 2000 for several years and it is still the best Lowrance makes. user friendly and quite reliable. They have a complete package with everything you need. C-maps are expensive but worth it.

Thanks for the information, but where is the best place to buy one ? Cabella's is 899.00 for the unit and the reader. I still have to buy the c maps of Erie / St. Clair and the Sonar part of it for I think 150.00. Who has the best deal?
Thanks
Before you buy check out the Magellan 6500 unit. It uses C-Nt maps and has fantastic detail. Even the contours, wrecks and known rock hazards are shown. This is a great water proof unit. I got mine at Franks Great Outdoors in Linwood,Mi This unit is getting very popular with fishermen on Saginaw Bay. If you call Franks, ask for Scott.

I 've been using the 2000 since it came out. I use the IMS maps and like them. The only problem I had with one unit was it went goofy on a 100 degree day. Had to put an ice bag on it to finish the day. I do not like the SAM sonar option. It's weak. 600 watts. I run a X85 (3000 watts) for a sonar unit. It's the best value out there. Cabela's has a good price BUT your local marine dealer will be close to the price and will help with questions and service.

That Magellan sounds interesting.
I have a global map 2000 and I love it for navigating/trolling/pinpointing, but also use an x-85 for sonar. I have not had a lick of trouble. I upgraded to the 12 channel reciever and had to send in my unit to have the internal software upgraded. They sent me a brand new one. I was pleased. Great company/great product.
My bro just got a complete kit from Reeds in Minnesota for around $500-550 (don't remember, but it was a lot less than the $1200 i paid a few years back). Either Jeff likes him or he is offering a great deal. Give him a call. Maybe he can work you out a deal too. Their link is on this web site.

I am happy with my 2000. Definitely go with the C
maps and sonar/speed/temp for backup. Reeds had a special on the whole package when I got mine 3 months ago. Good luck

$500-$550 sounds REAL cheap. Too cheap in fact. I'm sure Jeff is cheaper than anyone else on this unit though.
800-346-0019 talk to Jeff Arnold only and tell him I sent you.
