FL-18 Bottom dead zone

I was fishing Sat and noticed that I could not see my jig for about 1.5' to 2' off the bottom. I would adjust so that my jig was green and drop it down and it would disappear into the bottom. The bottom was giving a large red reflection. My theory is that I was getting a reflection off a 2' rock or simialar structure that was causing the larger dead zone. This was at 23' deep water, I fished some deeper water earlier in the week and had much better bottom resoloution. What are you other FL-18 user experiencing for bottom resoloution? Any other thoughts?

Yes, a rock could cause that like you suggest. Did you try moving to a different spot and see what happens?

I had the same thing happen to me, I switched holes and it was fine. There probably was something at the bottom??
