View Full Version : dumb question for rough water
I read a post a while back talking about boat control on rough water. There were some really good messages posted. I was wondering what quartering the waves meant?
Thanks Kuip
Quartering a wave means simply to drive the boat into the waves at a 45 degree angle. The effect is to lengthen the wave, and reduce the pounding the boat is taking.

First off, there are not any dumb questions. The only dumb ones; are the one's that arn't asked.
ETT is exactly right. The reason being, is the bow of the boat is less likley bury it'self into an oncoming wave or have a following wave wash over the transom. In either case the ride just got wetter and much more dangerous. Take care.
